He came to Harmony in 1859, and engaged in lumbering, which business he followed about twenty-five years. In 1880 he opened a flagstone quarry near Lanesboro', and is a jobber and contractor for furnishing and laying stone walks and pavements in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He has been a school director in the independent district of Lanesboro' since the district was formed, in 1873. He held the office of president eight years, and for the past nine years he has been secretary. Before he left his native county he was twice elected justice of the peace, the first time when he was but twenty-two years of age. He is now acting justice of the peace at Lanesboro', elected to that office in 1886. |
